Born in Milan, into a family of musician, Giampaolo Maria Bisanti started studying clarinet, piano, composition, conducting and opera conducting at the Music Conservatory “G. Verdi “of Milan very early. In the years that followed, he continued his education at the “Accademia Musicale Internazionale” in Pescara and attended some important master classes in conducting: with Donato Renzetti in Milan and Benjamin Zander invited by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. He always graduated with full marks.
He also started conducting at important venues at a very young age, performing both in Italy and abroad.
In 1998 Giampolo Bisanti was awarded the Second Prize (1st not awarded) at the “Dimitris Mitropoulus International Competition for Conducting” in Athens, chairman Sir Neville Marriner. In 1999 he won the First Prize at the “Franco Capuana International Competition” in Rome and the 5th Prize and Special Prize of the Jury at the 2002 “J. Ferencsik Competition” in Budapest. He also has been awarded many times in Italy (1998 and 2002), especially for his opera performances always acclaimed by audience and critics.
After studying under the supervision of Juri Ahronovitch at the prestigious “Accademia Chigiana” in Siena, where he was awarded the Diploma of Honour, he took up his international career performing more than 300 symphonic concerts (including concerts for soloists and orchestra and contemporary music) and 32 operas in the main concert halls and opera houses all over the world.
Following the success of his performances, he was invited to become the Luciano’Berio’s assistant for the 2001 L’arte della fuga European Project, the Spoleto Opera House Artistic Directors’ assistant and principal conductor.
He recorded a Cd with the soloists of the Milano Teatro alla Scala.
In 2008 he directed the Israel Philarmonic Orchestra in La bohème in Tel Aviv, one of the most important orchestra in the world.
He obtained a big success with a praise of all the orchestra, repeated ovations of the extraordinary public and book review of the Israelian press.
From 2008 to 2010 he has conducted: in Ravenna (Il Trittico and Ernani), in Palermo (Manon Lescaut by Puccini), in Naples (La traviata), in Venice (La bohème), in Florence (La bohème), in Genova (Carmina Burana and one recital starring Mariella Devia), Fondazione Spontini Pergolesi in Jesi (ToscaTraviata and Barbiere di Siviglia), Fondazione Toscanini in Piacenza and Modena (Ernani), many concerts with some prestigious orchestras as: Haydn Orchester in Bozen, Orchestra Regionale Toscana in Florence, RAI Symphony Orchestra in Turin, Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo (Naples) and Orchestra del Carlo Felice (Genova).
